Back in the early days of my leadership journey, an eye-opening conversation reshaped my perspective on the transformative power of expressing gratitude within a team.

One day, a leader from my team informed me that a high-performing team member had submitted their resignation. I was taken aback and saddened by the unexpected news. This individual, in my eyes, was a top contributor with
a promising future in our team. Determined to understand the reason behind this decision, I reached out for a one-on-one meeting. I needed and wanted
to understand what happened, what could have been done differently, and what
I, as a leader, could have done differently.

During our conversation, I expressed my regret about the departure, emphasizing how much our leadership team valued and appreciated his contributions. To my surprise, his response was a poignant revelation: "I wish I knew that. I wish you told me that before." I was astonished.
